Transitions are BIG, mama!
You’re going to experience lots of changes in life, but transitions are much more pivotal. You see, a change is situational, but a transition is psychological. Transitions are actually a 3 phase process that you have to go through as you internalize and come to terms with the details of the new situation (or situations!) in your life.
The Double-Whammy Transition of Becoming a Mompreneur
If you’ve recently birthed both a baby AND a business, you’re experiencing two major transitions at once!
And the overwhelming feelings from these transitions are 100% normal.
Thankfully, you’re not alone in this anymore!
I’ve got you.
In my decade as a psychotherapist, I walked my clients through transitions day in and day out. I’ve seen it all!
Together, we’re going to get you through these 3 completely natural phases of your transitions and back to feeling more like YOU again!
The Three Phases of Transitions
Phase 1: Release
Phase 2: Reimagine
This first phase of transition is an ending and the time when you need to cope with what has been lost. It’s a time to let go of old ways and the old identity you had. (Don’t worry, the best parts of you are still sticking around, mama!)
The new baby time period is the perfect example of this phase. It’s the time when you’ve probably kissed any extra money, sleep, or time alone goodbye. You’re letting go of a LOT. This is a hard phase, but you’re not stuck here.
This a phase when the old is gone, but the new isn’t quite fully operational. We call this time the neutral zone. It’s when the critical psychological realignments and repatterning take place. Although, it feels a bit like ‘new mom, who dis?’.
In this phase, you may mistakenly conclude that the confusion you feel is a sign that something is wrong with you. You might also see it as no man’s land and try to escape. But as painful as it can be in the neutral zone, here you’ll find an opportunity to be creative, to develop into what you need to become, and to renew yourself! (This is your palette cleanser and your playground. Take a deep breath and get imagining!)
Phase 3: Reinvented
This last phase occurs when you’re coming out of your transition and making a new beginning. This is when you will fully develop your new identity, experience new energy, and discover a new sense of purpose that makes the change begin to work.
This phase is where the purpose-driven, optimistic mama emerges and where you finally feel like the best, new version of yourself. (Take heart! THIS is where you are headed! I guarantee it.)
● Leaving behind a job or career that helped define you, and saying goodbye to the co-workers and colleagues who supported you along the way.
● Making the decision to become a mom and experiencing the joys and stress of trying to get pregnant or adopt.
● Starting a new business and taking the leap to step out on your own (even when impostor syndrome reared its ugly head and you’re weren’t 100% sure of yourself).
● Becoming a mom and welcoming a new life into your world!
These are all major life transitions and you have to walk through all three phases of any transition to get to the other side of them.
Are you ready to get started, mama?
